I'm SO excited that 2 of these wall art pieces will be debuting at TJ Maxx, Home Goods and/or Marshalls this month! (That would be May 2017) So be on the lookout and PLEASE take a picture for me if you see them!! :) There will even be a little bio and photo of myself on the outer packaging! (insert blush)
an interview with... me?
Back in February, I attended the SCBWI (Society of Childrens Book Writers & Illustrators) Conference. It my my first time going and definitely NOT my last. I got to hear such inspiring words and see lots of great illustration. (Yes I said hear words. Bryan Collier gave 2 amazing talks that were beyond breath taking. He read from 2 books, Knock Knock and Dave the Potter and I got chills during both. Here are some conference notes that the SCBWI published about the event.
While there I was able to meet up with and hang out with 3 super talented illustrators that I knew from an online e-course from a few years ago. One of these ladies, Jane Smith, has a fun blog called Bird Meets Worm, where she interviews lots of designers and illustrators and lo and behold, I got to be interviewed.
The interview went live today and here is a link!

hello 2017
Greetings + Happy 2017 to all! Twenty Sixteen had a lovely end. I participated in the Cricket Cringle and I had another West Elm pop-up. For these 2 events, I produced 100 hand silkscreened tea towels for the Cricket Cringle (a local holiday outdoor market, where I have a booth every year) and I sold out of 2 of my 3 designs! (Fun icons of Philadelphia and the Main Line) Since interest was so great, I am in the middle of having some more printed locally in Bucks County, PA. I will update here when they are back in stock.
Here are a few fun things i am working on this month:
– logo + store signage for DCG
– some new app icons (can't say for whom!)
– a few (super fun) map/educational illustrations
– a quote/illustration commission
– prepping my childrens book portfolio for the scbwi conference
– writing + illustrating a board book
The image above is the front of a wall calendar I designed for 2017. I only have a few left, but you can purchase them my shop here. They are also available locally in PA at the Narberth Bookshop. Shown below is all the art that is in the calendar. It's a fun size at 8" square and professionally printed on lovely uncoated paper. (So it's very easy to write on!) Cheers.
Tell me a Story
I am SO very grateful and excited to share this. It's my DEBUT illustrated picture book. And it's now available online on the awesome Usborne Books website.
Update to add: I have added a brand NEW childrens book section to my website. You can find some of the interior spreads on this page.
cricket pops - september
I'll be selling some goodies at a local / outdoor / pop up shop / vendors market this coming weekend. More info @ cricketavenue.com.
Childrens Books - now available for pre-order
For the past many months I have been working on illustrating a series of Bible Story books for children. The writing is amazing! It is written in rhyme but in a really smart, unique way... a bit similar to "The House that Jack Built". And now 2 of the 4 books "The Beautiful Garden of Eden" and "A Patch on the peak of Ararat" are available for pre-order on Amazon. (HERE and HERE). So exciting!!!
It was great to work with Tyndale. I can't wait to get my copies and see the book in full. And show more images from it.
birds + a poem
i guess i have a thing for birds... and poems by ee cummings. (i first learned of him in graduate school when i was studying book arts + printmaking at the university of the arts, in philadelphia.)
the thing I love about creating art is you never know where its going to take you...
custom illustration
Inspired by buildings & houses - my latest topic for my daily art project (where I create are around a specific a topic, 16 days in a row in 2016) #16in16art - I have decided to offer a new service on my website... I have called it: I will draw something just for you. It can be your house, a special object, or even your grandma's recipe for chocolate cake!
Below are some of the recent house "portraits" which inspired me to offer this service. (I also recently did a recipe commission, which came out really fun + I included that as well.) I like adding little subtle details that make the pieces unique.
In the first photo below, you will find a portrait of my childhood home in Oceanside, New York. My brother reminded me that most of the year we had an electric menorah in our window. (Even though Hanukkah only lasts 8 days.) We also had a lovely alarm sign in the lawn... though I'm fairly certain we did not have an alarm for most of my childhood.
I will add the family name and anything else you would like to have on your houee/item portrait. You can choose from the various styles and looks shown below.
Find out more details about this new service by visiting my online shop here.
